EyeInspect and Microvascular Health Assessment

EyeInspect

EyeInspect is an Artificial Intelligence assessment tool that uses retinal images taken during a regular eye examination to help detect underlying eye and health problems (including some chronic diseases). EyeInspect can detect more than 130 eye conditions and is available for most Bupa Optical customers. This service includes an EyeInspect report that provides information about your eye health and a range of underlying health problems, if they are present.

EyeInspect complements the professional services of our highly trained optometrists and helps them to provide more holistic eye and health care.

Microvascular Health Assessment

Did you know that your eyes are the only organ in the body where blood vessels can be viewed directly without invasive procedures? As many vascular problems can lead to changes in the blood vessels in the retina of your eyes, retinal assessments can also predict how healthy your heart is overall. The Microvascular Health Assessment (MHA) helps to understand whether you are at risk of developing a cardiovascular disease (CVD) within the next 5 years.

MHA uses artificial intelligence technology to assess retinal images that are captured during a routine eye examination. The technology analyses retinal blood vessels and nerves to produce a rating that reflects the risk of developing CVD over the next 5 years.

MHA is now able to track CVD risk over time, allowing you to understand more about your health journey.

Early detection of health problems can make a huge difference to your future wellbeing. If a health problem is detected, you can discuss your report further with your Optometrist or a trusted medical professional.

Eye Inspect and the Microvascular Health Assessment are suitable for people between the ages of 40 and 80. ##

Both services are complimentary for all current Bupa Health Insurance members and can be added to your regular eye test ($25 for all other customers).^
