Introducing Bupa's eyewear recycling program

We’re excited to introduce our partnership with Opticycle to make eyewear recycling simple and sustainable.

Opticycle are an Australian optometry recycling program focused on advancing environmental sustainability and addressing the recycling challenges specific to the optical industry.

In collaboration with Opticycle, Bupa Optical are committed to reducing waste and giving your used glasses a second life. Together, we can turn waste into opportunity. Join us in making a positive impact on the environment - because every pair counts.

Bupa is committed to delivering a healthier society for more people. We have a commitment to becoming a net zero business by 2040 and we operate on 100% renewable electricity in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Through our Healthy Cities program, we've unlocked more than $2m for nature regeneration projects and we’re continuing to reduce our impact on the planet with a focus on reducing waste and shaping a circular healthcare system. The Opticycle project is a great addition to our efforts to reduce single-use items and devices across our clinical spaces, swapping them out for sustainable alternatives.

Opticycle makes recycling easier for Bupa Customers

To ensure your glasses don’t end up in landfill, simply drop your old or used eyewear in the recycling box at your nearest Bupa Optical store, or hand them directly to a team member.

Once collected, the materials from your eyewear are carefully dismantled, sorted, and processed into raw materials for creating new products.
